Customer Support Specialist (Part Time)

About the Role

Autotroph is seeking a part-time, fully remote Customer Support Specialist. Our scheduling need is for roughly 3-5 hours per day for no more than four days per week. Three of those four days will be Friday through Sunday with a fourth day during the week, for a total of 15-20 hours per week.

In this role, you'll be supporting customers, affiliates, creators, and any other users of our sites. You will primarily be assisting users on blendermarket.com as well as cgcookie.com.

We are a bootstrapped 3D education and software company with a mission to foster and elevate creatives within the Blender community. We provide tools and training necessary for anyone wanting to develop or master the power of 3D.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Supporting our creators, customers, and affiliates via Help Scout and our custom inbox messaging tool.
  • Responding to every customer inquiry with empathy and curiosity.
  • Communicating feedback, notes, and questions to your support lead and the development team.
  • Contributing to and updating both customer and internal support articles and documentation.
  • Occasionally traveling to in-person team meetups and industry events.

Prerequisites

  • One to two years of customer support experience.
  • Willingness to take on extra hours during occasional, usually planned, busy or short-staffed periods.
  • Outstanding written and spoken English language communication skills. 
  • Proven ability to respond patiently, professionally, and politely to even the simplest customer requests.

Nice To Haves

  • Hospitality industry experience is a major bonus (bar tending, waiting tables, management, etc).
  • Remote work experience.
  • Familiarity with Blender and/or digital art in general.
  • Experience working with a diverse, international customer base.
  • US residents preferred, but others may apply.

Tools you'll be using

  • Basecamp: Primary communication tool for project and task management, including internal documentation.
  • Slack: Daily instant communication as needed.
  • Help Scout: The support software mainly used for customer conversations and managing help documentation.

Your daily challenge will be to provide accurate, helpful responses in a timely manner so that our community is cared after and their concerns are heard, helped, and solved.
