Over the past few weeks, we’ve taken a hard look at the numbers, the energy, and the support, and listened to those who’ve already committed to attending.
A metric that stood out was that over 150 people have bought tickets because they want BCON to happen. That matters. Visualize 150 people standing in your living room. 🙂 That’s a lot!
Sure, it’s not the headcount we originally planned for. But it’s more than enough to make canceling feel like the wrong move. When that many people raise their hands and say, “Yes, this is worth it,” it’s worth paying attention to.
So here’s the decision:
BCON 2026 is happening. ♥️
We are adjusting the event's shape to accommodate and make it happen. Smaller headcount. Tighter footprint. Leaner production. More focus.
We’re reducing expenses where we can. And yes, it means we’ll be covering the remaining gaps to make it work as needed. We’re okay with that. We believe in this room and in the people who choose to be in it. And that gap will get smaller with each new ticket you buy between now and April 13th... 🙏
What you can expect:
- An intimate group of Blender creators, studios, and toolmakers,
- Access to speakers and workshop instructors,
- Meaningful conversations and relationship time,
- An event that feels human, focused, and collaborative.
BCON has always been about bringing the Blender ecosystem together. That doesn’t require massive scale. It requires committed people. And we have them. In fact, if you’re reading this, maybe you’re one of them.
Austin also happens to be a great backdrop for this moment. It’s a creative city with real film production infrastructure and studio space, and incentives that attract film, TV, and gaming productions, all supported by a vibrant arts and tech scene.
